How to Take Photos

1. Photo Categories

2. Photography

2-1. Photography Frequency

As specified in the construction plan.

2-2. Photography Method

When taking photographs, a small blackboard with the necessary information from the following items written on it should be included in the photograph along with the subject, ensuring the text is legible.

  1. Project Name
  2. Work Type, etc.
  3. Measurement Point (Location)
  4. Design Dimensions (As-Completed Management Photo)
  5. Actual Measured Dimensions (As-Completed Management Photo)
  6. Sketch (As-Completed Management Photo)

If the small blackboard is difficult to read, fill in the necessary information in the photo information (photo management items - construction management values) specified in the “Digital Photo Management Information Standards” and organize it. Furthermore, in special cases, if instructed by the supervising officer, the instructed items shall be photographed at the instructed frequency.

2-3. Information-Based Construction and Construction Management Using 3D Data

Omitted ### 2-4. Omission of Photos Construction photos shall be omitted in the following cases: 1. Regarding quality control photos, if a quality certificate issued by a public institution can be stored and maintained, photography shall be omitted. 1. Regarding as-completed management photos, for parts that can be measured after completion, a photo showing the as-completed management status shall be taken once for each work type, and photography shall be omitted thereafter. 1. For areas where a supervisor or on-site technician has visited and conducted stage-by-stage inspections, progress management photographs shall be taken.

2-5. Photo Editing, etc.

Considering the authenticity of the photographs, photo editing is not permitted. However, this does not apply to the electronic entry of blackboard information based on “Regarding the Electronic Entry of Blackboard Information in Digital Construction Photographs” (dated January 30, 2017, National Construction Management Bureau No. 10). However, if blackboard information is to be electronically entered, the authenticity of the construction photographs must be verified. The “Authenticity Granting -> MILT” setting in this application’s settings screen corresponds to this.

2-6. Photo Specifications

The color and size of the photographs shall be as follows: 1. Photographs shall be in color. 1. The effective pixel count shall be such that the text on the blackboard is legible. (Approximately 1 million pixels to 3 million pixels = approximately 1,200 x 900 to 2,000 x 1,500)

When interpreting as video, the following should also be added: 2. When shooting with a normal camera is difficult, such as at night, shooting should be done using a method that allows for verification, such as using an infrared camera. 3. When shooting at actual speed, the frame rate should be approximately 30fps as a basic guideline. If the purpose is to view at high speed, time-lapse video may be shot at the necessary intervals during shooting after consultation with the supervising officer.

2-7. Points to Note Regarding Shooting

The following points should be noted regarding the application of the shooting location list: 1. If the “shooting items,” “shooting frequency,” etc., do not match the construction content, they should be added or removed as instructed by the supervising officer. 2. For completed parts that will be invisible, special care should be taken when shooting so that the completed dimensions (including the top marking dimensions) can be confirmed. 3. If the shooting location is unclear, a reference diagram (shooting location diagram, floor plan, legend diagram, structural diagram, etc.) should be created along with the photograph.

  1. For construction types not listed in the shooting location list, the handling shall be determined after consultation with the supervising officer regarding the photo management items.

3. Organization and Submission

Original photographs taken based on the “Shooting Frequency” in the shooting location list shall be stored in electronic media and submitted to the supervising officer.

The organization of photo files and the method of storing them in electronic media (various specifications) shall be based on the “Digital Photo Management Information Standards.”

If submission is not made in electronic media, the attached “Photo Management Standards (Draft) for when using a Film Camera” shall apply.
